Prepare to close out your week with 90 seconds of chaos, courtesy of Thotcrime’s latest single “This Is My Breakdown, I Get To Pick The Music,” featuring The Callous Daoboys’ vocalist Carson Pace. The track tumbles down a rabbit hole of digital madness, as Thotcrime is wont to do, as vocalist Hayley Sparxx and Pace go fucking off on the mic.

Thotcrime guitarist Malady Jane said “This Is My Breakdown, I Get To Pick The Music” stemmed from a collaborative effort with Sparxx that ultimately became what it is today.

“The origin of this track was a voice memo Hayley (Sparxx – vocals) sent me where she sang the guitar riff into her phone mic – I copied down what I heard to guitar and slowly but surely the song evolved into this wild mix of chaotic mathgrind and manic, sugary happy hardcore.”

As for the inclusion of Pace, it’s hard to deny the power in his delivery and the rising star that is The Callous Daoboys. It was only after hearing the Georgia-based band that Jane said she knew she absolutely had to do something with Pace or the band as a whole.

“The Callous Daoboys were one of the first bands that started getting me into heavier music, so being able to work with Carson was truly an honor. The interplay between them and Hayley lends a frantic energy to the track that makes it one of my favorites on the record.”

Pace’s contribution is just one of the handful of guest spots featured on Thotcrime’s upcoming album, D1G1T4L_DR1FT. The band fills out some of their other songs with contributions from Katie Davies of Pupil Slicer, Aki McCullough of Dreamwell, and diana starshine.

D1G1T4L_DR1FT is out October 28 and pre-orders are available here.
