Before they became the international juggernauts, a multi-million dollar business machine, and the largest band on the planet, Metallica were a foursome of scrappy heshers looking to kick some ass with their music. And though they were firmly a West Coast creation, Metallica got its first big break from a small label called Megaforce Records. Founded by one of metal’s most powerful power couples, Jon and Marsha Zazula, the label is the reason Kill ‘Em All even got recorded when it did, kickstarting Metallica’s meteoric rise to prominence.

Sadly, Marsha passed away at 68 years old in January 2021 and Jon died almost a year later in February 2022 at 69 years old. Their losses impacted many major metal acts, including Metallica, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, and more. So to pay tribute, Metallica put on a special show at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Miami this past weekend and only played songs from the first two albums that were released via Megaforce Records.

As you’ll see below, Metallica put on a hell of a show. Thanks to the included pro-shot clip of “Phantom Lord,” you can catch James, Lars, Kirk, and Rob rip through the classic *Kill ‘Em All *track while paying homage to the titanic Zazulas.
